kai mason eppich i got a girl but she aint home Sunlight hurt his eyes. Coming outside was an idiotic idea. Known to be an early riser since the beginning of his era here, Kai had rolled out of bed, showered and dressed in the dark so he wouldn't wake his roommate in order to avoid the bitching contest this early, and had gotten away with an early breakfast in order to come outside and enjoy the still crisp morning air. But the sunlight, it was already too bright, at least for his sensitive eyes. It was mostly hidden behind the early morning clouds, casting a light shadow over everything, but too many drugs had given him problems with his eyesight, sensitivity to light being one of them. He was a smart guy though, and had bothered to bring his dark shades out with him. He slipped them from his sweatpants pocket, adjusting them on his slender face, which just made everything look like it had a purple tint to it. Much better. Flicking a fly away from the arm of is white tee shirt, Kai made his way from the back door of the rehab center to the big fountain that was one of the 'allowed' areas.
It still made him laugh. A year ago, he'd come here on the brink of death but wanting to change his life for Taylor and Alexandra. Then, his life had revolved completely around the next handful of pills that he'd wash down with some liquor. He was a trashy white kid living in the Bronx, moving from home to home, trying to get his fix. Look at him now. He'd made it down to level one, he was on good terms with the therapists, Taylor was writing to him every week, always including pictures of her and their daughter. He was creating this life that should have been his to begin with, with the help of the center. He knew that most kids that got into this place hated it, because they didn't think they had problems big enough to be recognized and dealt with. He'd openly admitted to his problems, he'd checked himself in, he'd worked on getting better. He wasn't fixed, hell no. He still struggled daily with not thinking about the little pills. But he wasn't as bad as most of these guys.
Coming to a bench that sat several feet away from yet facing the fountain, Kai sat down in the middle of it and kicked his black slippers off, pulling his feet up and sitting Indian style. He watched the water for several minutes, removing his sun glasses and dropping them onto his slippers. It was still cloudy out, and it looked like it might be a rainy day. The leaves on the trees were turned up, reaching toward the sky like they could feel it and were just waiting. Funny- he never would have noticed that if he were still in New York.

Today was like any other day for Elizabeth. She woke up early, the pain from the withdrawal not allowing her to sleep, took a shower and then got dressed. She tried to be quiet, not wanting to wake up her very annoying roommate before leaving the room. She didn’t know where she wanted to go, but she definitely didn’t want to hang around in her room. Her roommate would be waking up soon and she was not fun to be around in the morning. She really wasn’t fun to be around period, but especially not in the morning. After she left the room she walked to the east wing and down to the cafeteria, grabbing an apple for her breakfast. She never ate anything big for breakfast, because she was never really hungry that early in the morning. She usually ate the most at lunch, and skipped out on dinner to just hang out in her room. She finished off her apple before tossing it in the trash, and making her way towards the back door. She probably wasn’t allowed outside right now, but who cares? It was better than waiting around for an orderly to tell her what she was supposed to be doing. She walked outside and stood by the door for a moment. She closed her eyes, inhaling the crisp morning air and smiling faintly. It was cloudy, which was Elizabeth’s favorite type of weather. She wasn’t a fan of the rain, but she loved the clouds. She opened her eyes after a moment and sighed, figuring she should go to one of the allowed areas if she didn’t want to get in trouble and get sent back inside.
The morning dew made the grass stick to her boots as she walked along. She would have to wipe her feet before going back inside, or else her roommate would have a fit. She made her way to the fountain, trying to ignore the person that had already been sitting there. She didn’t recognize him, and figured he wouldn’t try and strike up a conversation, so being around him was okay. She sat down on the edge of the fountain, her back to the water. She pulled her feet up, sitting Indian style and resting her elbows on her knees. She regretted not grabbing a book before venturing outside, because what else was she to do to distract her from her boredom? She sighed softly, running her hand through her thick, dark hair. She needed to get it cut. She left it down most of the time, and it was always usually knotted in some place, but she didn’t care. She didn’t care about her appearance anymore, because she wasn’t here to impress anyone. She didn’t wear makeup most of the time either. She just didn’t care. She let out a slow yawn, her head tilting back to face the clouds and closed her eyes, just relaxing.

kai mason eppich i got a girl but she aint home He sat there like that, his legs crossed and just staring into the fountain, for a good ten minutes before he stirred from whatever trance had taken hold of him. Just in time too, as some girl was walking out toward him. Squinting his eyes against the light as she walked past him, he quickly made note of her dark jeans and shirt, black boots, lots of jewelry, and bright red nail polish. She had long, soft looking dark hair that was a bit wavy. Everything about this girl was just, dark. Lifting an eyebrow, Kai watched her as she settled herself on the edge of the fountain. He hadn't seen her around here before, and he knew every body. One of the perks of being her so long- you just knew things. She had to be new, and wasn't it his job to be the welcome party? What was she doing out here to begin with? There was never anyone out here, not really at least. She was all dolled up this early in the morning for what reason exactly? Well, at least she looked good for a newbie. He yawned then, remembering that he hadn't gotten much sleep last night. Heroin nightmares again. His therapist would want to know about that, he made a mental note. He let a couple of minutes tick by before growing bored and beginning to feel like he was the intruder, so he put his legs down and slipped into his slippers, shoving his sun glasses in his pocket and making his way over to her.
She was pretty, at least from what he could tell from the side of her face. It didn't look like she was wearing much make up either, and natural beauty was always a big thing for him. But again, she just reminded him of a dark cloud or shadow, while he felt like a ray of sunshine in his white shirt and light gray sweats. Running a hand through his slightly crazy hair, he chewed on his lip ring for a second before coming up to stand in front of her. "Uh, hey. I think you're new here, or, at least I'm assuming that 'cuz I haven't seen you around. I've been here for more than a year, so I know everyone, and you haven't made the list yet. So, welcome to rehab." He smiled, trying to make his seriously lame introduction less lame. Maybe she'd have a sense of humor, er, hopefully. Or maybe she's be a total bitch about it and he'd let her go back to being a dark cloud. Make it rain.

Elizabeth was a dark person, there was no denying it. She liked the color black and wore it very often, when she wore makeup it was usually dark colors, she had dark hair even. She had a dark past and figured this was her way of showing this is what her past made her to be, or something cliché like that. Even when she wasn’t wearing dark clothes or dark makeup, she still had that dark sort of countenance, even just the way she carried herself. She had been told several times that she could seem rather menacing, although she didn’t try to be like that. She finally opened her eyes, taking in her surroundings. The fountain was rather peaceful, especially early in the morning. No one else was really around, so it was quiet and calm. The birds were chirping faintly in the background, there was a chill in the air. Overall, it was a pretty pleasant morning. At least, so far it was. She would just have to wait and see what the day had to offer.
Elizabeth watched as the man she had walked past earlier stood up and made his way toward her. He came to stand in front of her and she couldn’t help but sigh. So much for a perfect morning. She ran her hand through her hair again, picking at the nail polish that was chipping of her nails before forcing a small smile. If he was making an effort to be nice, she could be nice too, right? She nodded slowly at his assumption, brushing her hair from her eyes. ”Yah, I’m new here. Thanks….are you the welcoming committee or something?” She almost smirked softly, looking up to him. He was tall, definitely taller than her although that wasn’t hard to achieve, and covered in tattoos. He was overall a pretty attractive guy. ”I’m Elizabeth, level two alcoholic and narcotics abuser.” She offered her hand to the guy, forcing another small smile.
