No notes!
After a recent outburst in the rehabilitation center that Melissa had been living in for so long now, she had been assigned the duty of looking after a new kid. It was a punishment for most, but when Melissa got to meet new people, and when she wasn't having one of her episodes, she enjoyed getting to meet people. She had been told something of the person she was meeting, the name, Lilliana, and the level, three. She had also been told the problem that the girl had, not in depth, she was just told the title of the issue. She had to be told for her own safety, and she also had to be told because she outright refused otherwise. She had made the mistake of blindly trusting the orderlies to introduce her to the people that were new to White Springs before, and that had ended in two patients butting heads. Literally. Melissa had been one of them, and she didn't regret that. She still blamed the orderlies for that incident, she blamed them for the small scar up on her forehead too.
Crossing her arms over her chest, Melissa knew that today might not go as planned. She might not get on with this person, and she might not want to get on with them either. She was being partnered up with this girl because she had misbehaved, and this was her punishment. If she earned a friend out of it then that was great and she couldn't complain, but this wasn't exactly her first choice of how to spend her day. At least she was being let out for longer than an hour. Her usual free time consisted of talking to people as much as she could when she did get to leave her room, but otherwise a lot of her time was consumed by staring aimlessly at her Rubik's Cube or her hands. She supposed she should have been grateful for this.
Melissa sat on a soft, though uncomfortably stiff seat as she waited for the arrival of the new person. She had been assigned a sort of buddy, and was asked to make sure this person knew their way around White Springs and knew someone they could talk to if they needed that. A lot of people did, it was a disturbing transition from the real world to a rehabilitation center. When Melissa had joined she used to watch the 'normal' kids through the fence, and she used to watch them having fun for a whole hour. She longed to be out there with them, but it was four years later now and Melissa was still a level three. A tired looking level three at that. Dark rings were beneath the still and serious eyes, as blue as a calm sea bed. She was talking idly with the orderly that was accompanying her when the door opened and the new arrival was pointed out to her. She nodded to the orderly, and stood up, walking towards Lilliana.
"Hey. I'm Melissa, I'm going to be," a sigh. "I'm supposed to be looking after the new kid," she shrugged her shoulders and did her best to appear friendly, and not an all like an asshole.
