For the past year he's been saving back money for something and he had finally paid it all off. Yeah, so, he had to pay a little extra for having them hold it for him, but it was well worth it. As soon as he found out that he was gonna pay off this little item soon, he started practicing a speech in the mirror to himself. Of course, the real thing was going to be even more nerve racking, but he was going to do this. He knew that he would stumble over his words, but as long as Tori would say the magic word, well, he would be the happiest man in the world. So, today was the perfect day for him to be off work. He could make sure that everything was perfect for the set up, and with the help of some guard friends, well, that was gonna be able to happen. He had to pay a few bucks to get them to do everything, but the end result was going to be beautiful.
This is how it was going to be set up. He had the guards make sure the fountain area would be closed off tonight for unknown reasons, he told them to make up a reason. Hang lights on the trees, make sure there were bright flowers everywhere in sight. He made walk throughs the whole day to the fountain to check up on everything and see how it was going and made sure everything would be ready by six tonight. The head guard said not to worry and just go back to his apartment and to not psych himself out. If anything was going to be late, then he would call him right away without hesitation. So, Austin King went back to pace back and forh in his apartment for about four hours before is was five o clock. When it hit five, he texted Tori, telling her to meet him at the fountain around 6:30ish. He took in a deep breath and began to get ready. He hopped in the shower, because well, he wanted to be nice and not smelly for the night.
He put on his nicest pair of black pants, which were only just a pair of loose skinny jeans, but still. He then put on a nice, clean, white button up shirt and a black jacket to go over it. He got out one of the only two ties he had; a bright purple one, but, hey, don't judge or knock it til you try it. He grabbed a glass of water and put the little blue box in his jacket pocket. He made sure he had his phone on him and checked the time. 5:50. It meant that he should head down to the fountain to get everything set up. Once he arrived at the fountain, there was a table in front of the fountain, the bright christmas lights, and a lot of flowers. He took a deep breath and made sure the Italian food was on it's way there. He took in a deep breath and before he knew it, it was there. Two dishes of Chicken Alfredo and a bottle of Riesling, a white wine. He set up the two plates and the two glasses for wine on the opposite sides of the table. He put the bottle of wine in a small bucket filled with ice because that's the 'classy' thing to do.
He checked his phone and Tori had texted him that she was on her way to the fountain. He put his phone in his pocket, along with his hands. He bit his lip in anticipation for Tori arriving. It would take her about ten minutes to get here, so he went around checking everything once again. Just then, the guards came back but with instruments in their hands. Austin went to ask what they were doing here. Dude, we just want to make sure that this night is memorable. He man hugged the main security guard and they went to set up their instruments. After a few more minutes had passed and the guards had tuned a bass, trumpet, sax, and violin, he heard someone coming up. He went to go stand at the entrance of the fountain to greet Tori. He placed his hands in his pockets and the guards started to play. It was romance-y music. The song playing was Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra. He took a deep breath as Tori walked up. "How was your day at work?" he simply asked. |

All day, she had been busy with helping new patients and old patients alike. By the time her shift ended, she was so hyped up on coffee that she didn't know which way was up and which way was down. All she could think to do was remove her lab coat, get out, and head to the apartment. She had gotten a message from her boyfriend earlier that day, telling her to be at the fountain around 6:30. Well, first thing was first. She was gong to shower and get changed into something that didn't make her feel like a corporate bitch in heels. She took a five minutes shower that was rather scalding and had just enough time to wash off the grime and get relaxed.
She rubbed her eyes and yawned softly as she towel-dried and got on a pair of yoga pants, a graphic tee, socks, and skateboard sneakers. She figured it'd get cooler as the night progressed so on her way out the door, after putting her hair into a ponytail, she grabbed Austin's fuzzy jacket and slung it over her shoulder. She jogged the way to the fountain, trying not to be too late. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach as she tried to think about the reason he would be calling her to such a place at that time of night. She didn't think she was in trouble but then again, she wasn't entirely sure if she had done anything to upset him or their employers. She slowed her pace as she got nearer to the entrance and took in the sight of her boyfriend, a thin brow lifting quixotically. She opened her mouth to compliment his appearance but then snapped it closed when the music finally registered.
Her head tilted as she listened. Damn, she felt under-dressed, especially in comparison to him. He couldn't be doing what she thought he was about to do, could he? A cold chill took hold, giving her goosebumps. Her attention snapped back to him and she coughed, trying to pretend that she hadn't been lost in thought, hoping to unravel the man's motives. "Busy like it always is." She flashed him a wry smile and gave him a quick hug, reaching up to peck him on the lips.
Of course, with her curious nature, she couldn't help but try to take a peek over his shoulder. "We're not celebrating anything, are we? If we are, I feel guilty because I didn't remember..." She sighed and dropped her head to his shoulder, rubbing her eyes. Normally, she just went home and crashed but because he had asked nicely, she had agreed to show up. Now a part of her, although small, thought she had forgotten somebody's birthday or worse yet, their anniversary. People didn't celebrate anniversaries by months, did they?
Maybe she should take his advice and lay off the coffee. Her body was having a hard time, deciding if she wanted to crash or if she wanted to be jittery. Still, she had to admit that the smell of the food was rather inviting. The whole scene laid out before her was just...well, magnificent. Had he done it all on his own? Another wave of guilt washed through her as she thought about the trouble he must have had to endure to set this all up. Her head turned toward the sound of the guards, and she blinked.
She recognized some of the guards and the others, she knew worked there but with her mind being how it was in that moment, she couldn't recall their positions. They were probably all guards, but she had learned not to jump to conclusions so quickly. Her attention returned to Austin as she took a couple of steps back. "And how was your day, love?" She queried innocently, her pale gaze searching his for any sort of answer that she could find. "I bet it was eventful." She mused innocently, taking another appreciative look around the area.
(( Note: It'll improve, cleaning and family drama doesn't aid the muse. c: ))

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] REMEMBER THE NIGHTS WE DROVE AROUND CRAZY IN LOVE The Words: 818 The Outfit: CLICK The Notes hai <3 Austin was just very into making sure that all of this went well. Luckily, his guard friends were there to make sure that everything was to go well. The whole lights and flowers and everything was fantastic. He would have to repay them back somehow. Twenty bucks each was just not enough to repay them at all. He pat down his jacket to make sure nothing was out of place and made sure that his hair was looking good in the fountain water. He gave a thumbs up to Greg and the rest of the guards as he waited for Tori at the entrance to the fountain. Now, Tori wasn't one for like any 'huge' stuff. She liked to keep stuff simple, which made life easier on the both of them. However, he just wanted everything to be perfect for tonight. He wanted the scenery to look wonderful and himself to be cleaned up nice as well.
As she walked up, he grinned. Even in yoga pants and a shirt, she still looked beautiful as ever. She also held his fuzzy jacket, just in case it got colder. Which ya know, night normally did that sort of thing. She was about to say something, but held it back. Oh god. He went to over board with this whole thing didn't he? Great. She commented that work was busy, hugged, and kissed him. He of course, hugged and kissed her back. "Well, that's the life of a wonderful doctor I suppose." He took her hand and led her over to the table, pulling out her chair for her. God. His heart started beating like a double drum pedal; and a good one, not a bad one that got off beat of course. Why was he getting so nervous already? They hadn't even began to eat yet. He took a few deep breaths and sat down in the other seat.
She quickly asked about celebrating something, and he shook his head. "No. Not at all. Just, we, just..haven't had a nice date night in a little while and I wanted to surprise you." He hoped that she wouldn't rattle her brain over it, although that was like her. She would be thinking all night about whether or not she had forgotten something and he was just lying to hide the truth from her. He pulled out the wine, "I mean, I wanted to go all out with this date night. I hope you don't mind." He got up to pour the wine in the two glasses. He swallowed some spit in his throat and wondered what she would think of all this. He wanted her to think it was romantic and well planned. But, the other part thought that she would think that this was over done and too much. Hopefully, she would just be happy with the whole night.
She asked how his day had been, shortly saying afterwards that it was probably eventful. He grinned, "Well, yeah, a little bit. But, I can't take credit for all of it. Greg and the rest of the guards helped me out." He looked back at them in appreciation for everything they had done to make this night look amazing. He looked back at Tori, "Honestly, I had no idea that they were gonna play the music for us." That was a surprise for him even. He hadn't asked them to, or didn't even know that they played instruments nonetheless. "Why we start eating then. The food is from Campanile. It's a really good Italian restaraunt, or rather so I've heard." He'd never actually been there, but they were very fancy and some of his friends had mentioned it before now.
He took a drink of his wine. He wasn't a big fan of white wines, but this one wasn't too bad. He'd have to remember the name of it. He carefully made sure that the ring was in his pocket. He felt the box at least. He opened up the box inside his jacket and felt the ring. He quietly closed the box and took another drink of wine after eating some of the pasta. There were an unbelievable amount of butterflies all up and done in his stomach. He tried to calm down his heart beat, but it just would not stop with the beating and the everything else that was going on. He heard his name being called by one of the guards. He turned around and all of them were waving him back. He rolled his eyes and looked back at Tori. "Er...excuse me just one second." He put the napkin up on the table and kissed her on the head and ran over there. Greg whispered something in his ear and he nodded. He held up five fingers, to signal five minutes and went back over to Tori. "Sorry about that. They just wanted to know something." |

She watched him curiously, unable to put a lid on that curiosity of hers. Just what was he up to? It was bugging her. She picked at her food a bit more before taking a sip of her wine. She still couldn't help but feel like she was missing some huge event or anniversary of some sort. Then again, maybe it was just the amount of coffee she had managed to consume. Either way, it was just...well, frustrating[/]
It was like an itch she couldn't scratch. More specifically, the sort of itch that you scratched and scratched but it never went away. For her, it was like the worst feeling in the world, right up there with caffeine crashes and the stupid things she oftentimes found herself doing. Austin had been accepting of her, and she had been accepting of him. She hated needles, feared them and yet, there was talk of her getting a tattoo. She already knew she was probably going to murder his hand during the entire process, and he claimed to be perfectly fine with it. How, exactly, had she gotten so damned lucky?
She couldn't recall picking up any lucky pennies, rubbing some guy's bald spot, or even finding a four-leaf clover. The only thing she had really done was try to ensure that she was a happy person that helped others, no matter what the situation. Perhaps, this was karma's way of rewarding her. Karma couldn't be all bad, considering she seemed to have found the guy she was meant to be with. Certainly, they had their ups and downs like any couple, but they always made it through and were usually stronger than ever. There was always one thing that was quick to ruin her mood, however. When she was on her own, her mind traveled to dark, dangerous places. She usually found herself remembering the time that he had taken that overdose.
Fear and sadness overwhelmed her as she recalled that night and what she had done to save a man that she had been harboring feelings toward. During the majority of the time he had slept on her couch during college, she had been too cowardly to say anything. Now, after that, they had been together for over a year. Apparently, nothing said 'I love you' like dragging an unconscious man to the shower, sitting beneath the cold water with him, riding in the ambulance to the hospital with him, and staying by his beside all night, sick with worry. Actions really did speak louder than words and each time she remembered that night, despite the fact it had a happy ending, she couldn't help but feel as if she had failed him in some way. She also knew, from her line of work, that when it came to suicidal people, you couldn't really tell until it was too late. Still, she couldn't help but feel that perhaps, just maybe, if she had done something sooner, he wouldn't have ever done that.
When he came back, she snapped out of whatever state she had been in and nodded slowly. "Oh, really?" She queried, hoping he'd give her an answer of some sort before she went mad. Now, she could almost see why women about had heart attacks during these sorts of things. After all the worrying and then being presented with the surprise, it was not only a relief but usually a huge shocker. "You know, I love my job but at the same time, I can't help but feel like our time together is cut short, you know?" She wasn't complaining, but it had been on her mind for a while now.
